FAQ Membership

Managing membership in the JFKS Verein is very easy. This link will take you to the following login dialog.

If you have problems logging in then please read our login troubleshooting guide in the FAQ.

The email address is the one you used when you registered. This may have happened recently via the membership application or earlier via the predecessor system Tuurio. Every family has exactly one such email address, even if several people belong to this family. If you don’t have a password yet or have forgotten your password, you can use “Request new password” to receive a new password by email, which you can then use to log in here.

Once you have logged in you will see the following screen.

Here you have various options.

1. You can download your membership certificate.

2. You can set and save a new password.

3. You can also download all of your member data as a PDF.

4. If you want, you can also upload a picture of yourself or your family.

If you scroll down a bit, you will see tabs for the different types of member data.

5. Under “Contact details” you will find primarily your name and your email address. “Linked member profiles” exist when someone from your family works on the board and therefore has their own ID with additional access rights.

6. Under “Account details” you will find the data for your SEPA direct debit mandate. You cannot change this here, only with our separate form.

7, Under “My Events” you will find the emails that we have sent to you.

8. The “Partners” and “Children” tabs are used to enter the names of other members of your family. This is necessary, for example, if a child is to have a locker and the family names differ.

9. We transitioned messages/payment information from Tuurio. The fields allow you to specify who of you would like to receive emails from us.

There are also a few other functions at the top right under “My Data”.

10. You can view and download your invoices for your membership under “My Invoices”. You can also see there whether there are still any membership fees due.

11. And ultimately you can also – which we of course don’t hope for – end your membership by clicking on “submit cancellation”. Please note that membership fees paid will not be refunded, not even proportionally.

12. One more thing: the three lines next to “My details” bring up another menu where you will find Verein-specific functions, in particular a form that allows you to update and submit your SEPA direct debit mandate (in German or in English). Please see below.

If you have any questions, please write an email to treasurer(at)theverein.com

I can’t login / Ich kann mich nicht anmeldenIhr müsst bitte 1) in unserer Initialisierungs-Email den Aktivierungslink klicken und 2) ein Passwort für Euch setzen. Please 1) click the activation link in our initialization email and 2) set a password for yourself.
Offensichtlich habt Ihr noch nicht den Aktivierungslink in der Email geklickt, die wir Euch im August 2024 zugeschickt haben. Der Aktivierungslink läuft nach 30 Tagen ab. Solltet Ihr die Email nicht finden oder der Link abgelaufen sein, dann schreibt bitte eine Email an treasurer(at)theverein.comApparently you have not yet clicked the activation link in the email we sent you in August 2024. The activation link expires after 30 days. If you cannot find the email or the link has expired, please write an email to treasurer(at)theverein.com
Here you probably tried to register with a “wrong” email address. If you can rule out typing errors, then our system probably doesn’t know you. Of several email addresses under Tuurio, we only used the first one because all family members are now combined in one data set. Try using your partner’s email address.
Warning

The link to change the password has expired. Please request a new link.
Even if the link was only just requested, it can only be opened once for data protection reasons. Sometimes it even counts as opening when the spam filter checks it. In that case, please request a new link!
Here your password was probably wrong. The message also says “username”, but an incorrect username should actually have led to the error message above. Please note that the passwords could NOT be transitioned from Tuurio. When you log in for the first time, please use “Reset password”, to request a new password. This password link is valid for 30 minutes.

Yes. Families holding a Berliner Pass are eligible for a full fee waiver. Send an email to lockers@theverein.com with a PDF of your relevant documentation. Support is also available for families experiencing temporary financial difficulty — simply reach out confidentially and the Verein will help. All information is kept strictly confidential.

No. The Verein and the JFKS Friendship Center e.V. are legally, financially, and organizationally independent of each other. The Verein funds school projects and community initiatives; the Friendship Center provides day care. Membership fees paid to one cannot be applied to the other.

EasyVerein allows the Verein to manage both membership records and finances in one place, replacing the previous system Tuurio.

Birth dates help the Verein clearly identify people with the same name and distinguish parents from children. They also provide a general overview of how many member families have children in ES versus HS.

Based on Verein records, no family has more than 4 children currently attending JFKS. This is consistent with the approach taken by the Parent Council Board.

In Tuurio, each family member was registered separately. In EasyVerein, each family has one record with one email address. The first email address from Tuurio became the primary address in EasyVerein. You can update email preferences in your membership profile.

If you use the Verein’s standard login link, the code is already built in. If you land on EasyVerein’s general login page, enter jfksverein as the association code.

Log in at easyverein.com/public/jfksverein/profile and use the form under the three-line menu next to “My Details.” Your SEPA information cannot be edited directly in the contact details tab — it requires the separate mandate form. If your SEPA data is missing or incorrect, your membership will be on hold until it is updated.

No. For mandates granted online, a handwritten signature is not required, in line with Bundesbank guidelines.

FAQ Lockers

Yes! All Verein member families with a child in Grade 7 or above are entitled to an assigned High School locker. Lockers are available for every student in grades 7–12 for storing books, folders, and personal items. Only families with an active Verein membership are eligible.

Yes. All incoming students have a locker set aside for them, including 6th graders transitioning to high school and newly identified families. Once your Verein membership is confirmed, the locker application submitted, and the deposit paid, your child will receive their locker information. A number of spare lockers are always kept available for late arrivals.

Follow these three steps: first, become a Verein member at theverein.com/join-the-verein by May 15th. Then log in to your membership record and apply for a locker for your child. Finally, your child pays the €10 deposit in cash to the Locker Committee on Orientation Day or during the first week of school.

The process is the same as for new 7th graders — join the Verein by May 15th, apply for a locker via your membership record, and have your child pay the €10 deposit to the Locker Committee on Orientation Day or during the first week of school.

Just make sure your family’s Verein membership is still active. Log in at theverein.com/manage-membership to confirm access. Returning students in grades 8–12 receive their locker number and combination from their homeroom teacher or the Locker Committee during the first days of school.

The Locker Committee is present in the high school during the first few days of the school year, usually from around 8:00–13:00. After that, students can contact the American Vice-Principal, who manages lockers for the remainder of the year.

The deposit covers two things: €5 goes toward replacing worn-out combination locks, and the remaining €5 is refunded when your child graduates or permanently leaves JFKS. Please note the deposit must be paid directly to a Locker Committee representative — not to your child’s homeroom teacher. A locker cannot be released without it.

The initial assignment is random and changes each year as students progress through school. If your child has a medical condition requiring a specific locker position, please submit a letter from their orthopedic doctor to lockers@theverein.com.

Lockers may only be used for books, folders, and similar items. Valuables and instruments should not be stored there. The school and Verein take no responsibility for locker contents. Only the assigned school combination lock may be used — personal locks will be removed. Lockers must be kept locked at all times, and the combination must not be shared. Lockers must be fully emptied at the end of each school year; anything left will be removed and discarded.

The committee welcomes around 20 parents and 10 students each year. Parents are mainly needed on Orientation Day, the first days of school, and in late June for the end-of-year locker clean-out. Students can help hang locks in early August and assist new 7th graders on Orientation Day. Get in touch at lockers@theverein.com — and yes, there is a team t-shirt.
