Every Verein member family with a child in Grade 7 or above can receive an assigned High School locker as a Verein Member, a small but meaningful perk that makes a real difference in the daily school life of your teenager. No more lugging everything between classes. It’s one of the most tangible, immediate benefits of membership, and it kicks in from day one.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE TWO SIMPLE STEPS TO ENSURE YOUR HS STUDENT IS ASSIGNED A LOCKER

1. Make sure your family is still a Verein member.

Please follow the instructions at our FAQ page to log-in to our Verein membership system. If you can then most likely everything is in order. In the future, we intend to provide information about your current locker(s) in your membership record. For now, please assume you are good to go if you can log in.

2. Receive your new locker

During the first three days of the first week of school, 8th to 12th grade (not new) students receive their locker assignment and combination. The Locker Committee will be present in the high school and available to take questions and resolve any issues.

For questions, please contact the Locker Committee at lockers@theverein.com.

FAQ Lockers

Yes! All Verein member families with a child in Grade 7 or above are entitled to an assigned High School locker. Lockers are available for every student in grades 7–12 for storing books, folders, and personal items. Only families with an active Verein membership are eligible.

Yes. All incoming students have a locker set aside for them, including 6th graders transitioning to high school and newly identified families. Once your Verein membership is confirmed, the locker application submitted, and the deposit paid, your child will receive their locker information. A number of spare lockers are always kept available for late arrivals.

Follow these three steps: first, become a Verein member at theverein.com/join-the-verein by May 15th. Then log in to your membership record and apply for a locker for your child. Finally, your child pays the €10 deposit in cash to the Locker Committee on Orientation Day or during the first week of school.

The process is the same as for new 7th graders — join the Verein by May 15th, apply for a locker via your membership record, and have your child pay the €10 deposit to the Locker Committee on Orientation Day or during the first week of school.

Just make sure your family’s Verein membership is still active. Log in at theverein.com/manage-membership to confirm access. Returning students in grades 8–12 receive their locker number and combination from their homeroom teacher or the Locker Committee during the first days of school.

The Locker Committee is present in the high school during the first few days of the school year, usually from around 8:00–13:00. After that, students can contact the American Vice-Principal, who manages lockers for the remainder of the year.

The deposit covers two things: €5 goes toward replacing worn-out combination locks, and the remaining €5 is refunded when your child graduates or permanently leaves JFKS. Please note the deposit must be paid directly to a Locker Committee representative — not to your child’s homeroom teacher. A locker cannot be released without it.

The initial assignment is random and changes each year as students progress through school. If your child has a medical condition requiring a specific locker position, please submit a letter from their orthopedic doctor to lockers@theverein.com.

Lockers may only be used for books, folders, and similar items. Valuables and instruments should not be stored there. The school and Verein take no responsibility for locker contents. Only the assigned school combination lock may be used — personal locks will be removed. Lockers must be kept locked at all times, and the combination must not be shared. Lockers must be fully emptied at the end of each school year; anything left will be removed and discarded.

The committee welcomes around 20 parents and 10 students each year. Parents are mainly needed on Orientation Day, the first days of school, and in late June for the end-of-year locker clean-out. Students can help hang locks in early August and assist new 7th graders on Orientation Day. Get in touch at lockers@theverein.com — and yes, there is a team t-shirt.
