Verein Board Responsibilities (2026/2027)

The Board consists of a minimum of five (5) and a maximum of twelve (12) members. All board seats are a two year term and all board members must be paid Verein members. Of these up to twelve members, three (3) will be elected as legal representatives to the Board. 

All Board Member Responsibilities: 

  • Attend two monthly board meetings.
  • Should be on at least one committee or working group.
  • Be prepared for monthly meetings and/or committees or working groups (reading minutes, drafting documentation, reviewing financial reports, etc.).
  • Act as a representative of The Verein and the Board.
  • Be accountable to the Verein members by making informed decisions about the funding requests.
  • Be hands-on in preparing for the Annual General Meeting (AGM). 

Specific Additional Responsibilities for the Legal Representatives

  • Act as a legal representative to the Verein Board and be listed on the German Handelsregister.
  • Sign supplier contracts, tax deduction letters, etc.
  • Ensure all tasks are delegated and completed.
  • Provide strategic direction to the Board.
  • Serve as the primary contact point with JFKS Admin.
  • Should chair the monthly meetings.

The estimated time commitment of a board member is 8-10 hours per month between meetings, preparation, committee and/or working group meetings. Not everybody can make such a commitment to the Verein. The table below shows some alternatives. Please reach out to info@theverein.com
